On 24th March, 1979, he was born as son of a Muslim Father and a 24th March, 1979 Mother, with name Emraan Anwar Hashmi. At the age of 18, he assisted Vikaram Bhatt as an assistant director on 2002 Bollywood horror movie Raaz. He is cousin of Alia Bhatt, new girl in Bollywood films.

Emraan Hashmi started his acting career with 2003 movie Foothpath, produced by his uncles, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Unfortunately film did not performed well on box office, so he had to wait for several months for his first box office success. Emraan Hashmi’s second film Murder, in which he was starred opposite Mallika Sherawat, became one of big hits of 2004 and brought him instant fame.
