First Indian Superstar Rajesh Khanna Movies List & Biography

Bollywood’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna, who acted in 163 hindi films, has passed away on 27th July 2012 (Wednesday) after a long time illness. He was admitted  in hospital since many days and was discharged on 26th July 2012, but due to low blood pressure & extreme weakness he was on kept on ventilator.

He took his last breath at his residence “Aashirwad Bunglow” in presence of his wife Dimple Kapadia, son-in-law Akshay Kumar (Actor), both daughters Rinki Khanna and Twinkle Khanna, grandson Aarav and very close relatives. Rajesh Khanna was addicted to alcohol and in the month of June he was admitted two times in Lilawati Hospital . He was seventy years old. Amitabh Bachchan acted with him in small roles in some movies, later Amitabh Bachchan replaced him and became second superstar award of India. After acting in 180 movies, Rajesh Khann received Lifetime Achievement Award from Amitabh Bachchan in IIFA Award 2009.

Rajesh Khanna was born with a name Jatin Khanna in Amritsar, a holy city of Punjab, India on 29th December 1942. He is also known as ‘KAKA’ in Bollywood & among his fans. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is his son in law and husband of his elder daughter Twinkle Khanna, Rinky Khanna is his younger daughter. As an adopted child he was raised by foster parents, his biological parents’ close relative, with lots of affection and care in Girgaon, an area in southern Mumbai, Maharashtra.With Jeetendra (real name Ravi Kapoor) who later became an actor in Hindi Film Industry, Rajseh Khanna completed his schooling at St. Sebastian’s Goan High School. He had developed a keen interest in theater so during school and college days, he took part in many stage & theater plays and acquired many prizes in various competitions..

Rajesh Khanna has a royal kind of life style entire his life. In the time of early sixties, he became a rare newcomer of Bollywood who used to go to film makers to get some work in his high priced own MG Sport Car. Jitendra was his close buddy in college too. It was Rajesh Khanna who gave him acting tips for his first film audition. Rajesh Khanna’s uncle changed his first name Jatin to Rajesh when he decided to enter in Hindi film industry.

In 1965, he participated in All India Talent Contest which was organized by United Producers and Filmfare and won in by beating more than 10,000 participants and became a part of Indian film industry by his debut movie Aakhiri Khat in 1966, directed by Dev Anand’s brother Chetan Anand. It was 1969 film Aradhana, in which he played character of Air force Officer Arun Varma along with Sharmila Tagore and became instant national fame and got title of First Superstar of India by film critics.

Kishore Kumar became his official voice after film Aradhana. Kishore Kumar and Rajesh khanna, together they gave many hit songs. His female fans kissed his car and covered it with lipstick marks, many of his females fans sent him letters written of their blood. He was romantically involved with many females, specially with Anju Mahendru & Mumtaz. He married actress Dimple Kapadia in March 1973 in March 1973, when she was just sixteen. He was paired with many heroines in films but it was actress Mumtaz with whom he gave eight hit films.

He became a member of Parliament (MP) on Congress Party ticket in 1992 and remained on his seat until election of 1996. He was approached to be part of reality show Bigg Boss and he agreed to appear on the show, but later his son-in-law Akshay Kumar told him not to go in the show as it can spoil his superstar image among his fans so he said no to it. In 2012, Rajesh Khanna appeared in an ad film of Havells Fans and recited these lines in it – “Fans kya hote hai mujhse poochho, woh jazba woh junoon, babu moshaye fans hamesha mere hi rahenge, mere fans mujse koi nahi chheen sakta”. Rajesh Khanna’s songs and dialogues are still very popular.
