Chennai Express – Action Romance Movie of ShahRukh Khan & Deepika Padukone
King of romance Shahrukh Khan is again in news and this time not for any controversy but for Chennai Express, his upcoming movie in 2013. Don’t get wrong idea by its title that it’s a remake of any south Indian movie, infact it’s an original story which impressed Shahrukh Khan that he said a big yes to star in lead role when Rohit Shetty, director of Chennai Express, narrated him the script. Deepika Padukone is signed as female lead opposite Shahrukh Khan (SRK) in Chennai Express.
Rohit Shetty wanted to make Sanjeev Kumar starrer cult comedy movie Angoor’s remake with Shahrukh Khan but that could not turn in reality as Rohit was not ready with the script so he narrated Chennai Express’s script to SRK which he liked very much. SRK’s wife Gauri Khan is producing the film under their banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Shahrukh Khan was the first finalized cast of the film. After this the hunt for leading lady begun. There were some names in rumors as leading lady of Chennai Express and the names are Kareena Kapoor, Asin Thottumkal and Deepika Padukone. These news by media made Rohit Shetty angry and finally after all speculations Deepika Padukone was cast as female lead.
What’s special about Chennai Express?
Firstly it’s a first movie in which Shahrukh Khan and Rohit Shetty are working together. It is very surprising for many of us who are aware of very strong bonding between Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty and this time Rohit did not cast him in the film. Well it’s not that now they both have any problem working with each other but as every director wants to work with all best actors of the industry and Rohit Shetty is not an exception.
Shahrukh is famous for his on screen romance power so Chennai Express will be full of romantic scenes and Rohit Shetty, who is known for high class action scenes and cars blasting, is the director so it will be an action packed movie as well. In resent time superstar Salman Khan is leading box office with his action movies so it will be fun to watch his arch rival Shahrukh Khan doing a typical Rohit Shetty film.
Second, Shahrukh Khan is working with his discovery Deepika Padukone for second time after Om Shanti Om so it will be fun to watch their on screen chemistry after a long time in Chennai Express. SRK has already flaunted his six-pack abs in earlier released Om Shanti Om and it is reported that now this superstar is having sweaty exercise sessions at gym for a hot bod. So it’s a good news for all Shahrukh fans that there are fare chances to see his muscular physique in his upcoming movie Chennai Express. In his last released film Jab Tak Hai Jaan, directed by Yash Chopra, SRK played an army guy but now he is ready for a Hindi movie in south style masala.
Third, as Rohit Shetty has stated that Shahrukh Khan is not going to play south Indian character in it but we guess gorgeous girl Deepika Padukone can be seen as south siren in Chennai Express as veteran Tamil actress Manorama is playing her grand mother in the film while south Indian actor Sathyaraj is playing her father in the movie.
Forth, the tag line of the film, “Ready Steady Po”. Well ‘Po’ is Tamil word which means ‘go’ in English. Isn’t it creative? well for us surely it is.
First Look Poster of Chennai Express
First look poster of Chennai Express has been unveiled on 1st January 2013, on the joyous occasion of new year. It go viral on net through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter with in minutes. Only the title of the movie was tweeted by many of twitter user for 2 days continuously.
We can see furious Shahruk Khan riding a bike on rail track which has a number plate written “IN 555″ on it and worried Deepika Padukone sitting back. While four typical south movie type rascals chasing them between two blowing cars.
Story Of Chennai Express
As director said that it’s a story of a journey of a guy called Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) from Mumbai to Rameshwaram. What situations he faces during his journey is the main plot of the film. We are not aware much of story of Chennai Express as it’s still under the wraps. But surely we will update about it as soon we get it from any reliable source.

Principle photography begun on 27th September 2012 and shooting of the movie started after few days with a budget of 
105 crore (US$19.11 million). Shahrukh Khan did not charge his regular fees for the movie as his wife Gauri Khan is the producer of it.
